Plan For Your Future Tomorrow

Philosophy

My practice is guided by the following core beliefs:

Freedom of Choice

It is my mission to make sure clients have access to the information they need to make informed decisions about their finances and their future. By learning about your hopes, concerns, and priorities, I can provide you with a range of options that allow you to move forward, confident that your needs -- and those of your family members -- are being met.

Relationships, not transactions.

I strive to be more than just the person who prepares your legal documents. I want to be a trusted counselor and advisor -- someone you can call long after your plan is complete to share an important event in your life, ask a question, or raise a concern.

Quality.

I have been practicing law for almost 30 years and am committed to providing you with the highest level of service possible. I will return phone calls and e-mails in a timely manner, meet agreed-to deadlines, and produce final documents that are clear and understandable.

Family.

I am a husband, father, brother, and a son. Like every family, we have experienced our share of illness and death. I’ve seen first-hand the difference that advanced planning can make, especially when a loved one becomes incapacitated or dies unexpectedly. My father was diagnosed with lung cancer in early 2000 and died just a few months later. I regret that I didn't know his wishes during the time he was incapacitated, including his end-of-life choices. As a husband and father, I want to make sure my family knows my desires. I want to do the same for you.

Trust.

I value relationships. I want to know your story and your dreams and to prepare a plan that meets your needs and aligns with your values. I look forward to earning your confidence and being your trusted advisor throughout the estate-planning process.

Compassion.

I try to live by the golden rule - treat others as you want to be treated. I appreciate a "hello" from a stranger, a compliment or a kind word, and a good deed. In turn, I strive to be friendly and approachable and to make sure those around me know I care about their happiness and well-being.

Community.

We each have a role to play in creating a strong and safe Oakland, where every individual and family can thrive. I have seen first-hand, through many years of involvement with Habitat for Humanity, what is possible when people work together and support one another.
